Rosie's First Castle

I think we're mostly settled in now.  We still need to work out some bugs in our living arrangement...we'll share those next time with a video tour of the room.  Right now, Rosie is sleeping and flipping on some lights to take a video just seems like a baaaad idea.

Our first trip out sightseeing was to Hohenecken Castle.  It was quite the hike up to the castle and absolutely worth it.

At the base of path was this sweet restaurant.  Everything about the town was just lovely.  Even though it's been a pretty dreary week, these colorful homes make it feel bright.

Getting ready to head out!

She is so silly.  And our favorite mouse hat has finally been worn for the last time.  Her head is just too giant.  I love this hat so much.  We got it for her while I was still pregnant.  But, we're finding that we have to stretch it, and pull it, and even then it still won't stay on her head!  Farewell, mouse hat, we've loved you.

The nice little restaurant at the base of the path to the castle.

House across the street.  Love the color.

Starting the journey up the hill.

This church is on the way.  Hard to get a good picture because the path is so steep.
Really pretty, though.

Hohenecken Castle

Self timer pic!  Rosie was loving all the warmth her Daddy was providing.

 ....and then there is Brett!
Our good friend, and Mike's longtime bromance, is deployed to Afghanistan right now.  Unfortunately, he's not feeling so great and made a brief stop-off at Landstuhl hospital, which is only about 20 min from us.  We took advantage of some time together before he heads back.  Rosie mostly cried every time he held her...finally, a girl that can see right through that charm.  haha!  I forced Brett and Mike to take a pic together, and that's exactly how the picture turned out - not really share worthy.  Those boys.  Good to see you, Brett.  Stay safe and take care of yourself.

And now, it's all about Rosie.
A few things.  She's been rolling over for awhile now from her back to her tummy, but still no progression on flipping back.  Once she can do that, I think she'll be pretty excited and hard to keep in one spot.  Her 6 month birthday is just a week or so away and so is Mike's 30th birthday.  To celebrate, we'll be starting solid foods.  So exciting.  I think we'll be trying avocado first.

Finally took a video of her giggling.  I'm not sure why we always take videos when she is at her most tired moment, but we should work on that.  The ones I took this week were all right before nap time and she looks so sleepy!

She holds things with both hands and has decided this crazy grunting noise is her favorite.  We can safely say the grunting is not our favorite.

She's also sitting up now on her own!  We still have to monitor her or she'll face plant it into the yarn covered cement that is our room carpet.  Ouch!

See ya, everyone!  Hopefully we'll have some fun first food pics for next time.
We're also planning to do a trip to Kassel, Germany for Michael's birthday.
Check out their cheesy, but informative, tourism video.
